Wrinkle conundrums? What is your best option?
Botox, Disport, Xeomin, Newtox… Why are there so many toxin injection options? I just want to be wrinkle-free!
With so many Botox copycats on the market, how can you know which one is best for you?
Botulinum Toxin (Botox) is the most popular and well-known injectable. It is a refined and diluted neuromodulator, popularly used in medical and aesthetic treatments.
Botox relaxes overactive muscles and was originally used to help relieve patients of painful muscle spasms or extreme tension headaches. Now, Botox is used to relax muscles in the face and neck, which can smooth fine lines, decrease wrinkles, and flatten the appearance of crow’s feet and aging.
Allergan was the first company to market the Botulinum toxin, who named the product Botox.
Their original formula received a patent, preventing new competitors from coming to market with the same recipe.
Then, replica products like Xeomin and Disport came to market. New companies wanting to get in on the wrinkle-reducing craze began creating their own Botox-alternative toxins with the intention of marketing in competition with Botox. But because of Allergan’s patent, these new competitors had to create a new formula that was unique– and different from Botox.
All these toxin variations are sold by different providers, but are all using the same core ingredient: a Botulinum toxin. Botulinum is the only ingredient that is FDA-approved to be used in this type of facial injection in the United States. Still, there are other differences that could be a factor in how effective they are.
So, which one is the best for reducing wrinkles? These products can be expensive, and we all want to get the biggest bang for our buck!
It mostly depends on who the provider is. Results from provider to provider vary more than product to product. Each one needs to be injected slightly differently and in different amounts. This is why having a licensed physician or registered nurse with a lot of experience is so important when getting injections.
Overall, most beauty injection providers tend to have the most experience with Allergan’s Botox.
So what about the newest toxin on the market, Jeuveau’s Newtox? Is it simply another competitor trying to change the formula just enough to go to market? Not exactly… Recently, Allergan’s Botox patent has run out.
Newtox is the first toxin to be nearly identical to Botox. Studies are showing it is even slightly stronger and faster-acting than regular Botox!
For this reason, Newtox has become the only toxin we specialize in here at Wake Up Beautiful Spa. More wrinkle-reducing power for less money! Could it get any better than that?
